Skimdevil Pure: Pre-Order Update 1
Hi everyone,
We know there have been a lot of questions about our pre-sale orders. We wanted to provide an explanation as to why it’s taken longer than we expected to get our Skimdevil Pure robots to your pools.
Like many other businesses, we had to slow down during the state shutdown orders. We are a nonessential business and we also have a small team with members who are at-risk. We wanted to take extra precautions to keep our employees safe, while we did as much as we could working from home. Additionally, while our robots are assembled here in Florida, many of our pieces are created overseas. The global closures delayed the manufacturing of Skimdevil parts. We did not foresee this when we opened up pre-sale orders.
But now, Florida is open. So what is the delay?
To create the Skimdevil Pure, we had to overhaul and improve our first model, the Skimdevil Camio. While the majority of our Skimdevil Pure is complete, we are still working on the finalizing the “brain” of the robot, or the tiny computer that tells it what to do, communicates to the app, and makes sure it skims smoothly. We are not using the same computer “brain” as our first model and have had to create something new. We thought it would be completed much earlier, but unfortunately, it has taken longer than anticipated. Our app also needs to connect to this piece; one cannot go without the other.
While we are close to finalizing and testing the Skimdevil Pure, we are not done yet and definitely do not want to ship out a product that is subpar—especially with a piece that is so crucial to the performance of the Pure. We want you to have a skimmer to smile about, not cause more issues.
We sincerely apologize for this delay and know that pool season is here. Many of you are anxious to get your Skimdevil Pure. Please know that our engineers are working hard on our Skimdevil robots and understand the time sensitivity. This is new phase for our small business and we’re clearly still working out some of our growing pains.
We will keep you updated each week as we assemble and test our Skimdevils before shipping! We hope to get the Skimdevil Pure in the mail to you by mid to late June.
